Sitting Volleyball

Sitting volleyball is, as the name would suggest, volleyball, but played sat down on the floor. It may come as a bit of a relief to learn that the court is very much smaller and the net much lower than the standing game. It has the same skills requirement as the standing game and full use is made of three touch volleyball. However, the biggest difference is that you have to keep your bum on the floor, ie no lifting or jumping.

When you play sitting volleyball for the first time, you may be surprised how fast the game is compared to the standing game. You have to move with your hands yet still play a shot, its a bit like learning to pat your head and rub your belly!

When playing sitting volleyball, you will soon realise how technically demanding it is, and what was once an easy shot may become a bit more challenging to make. Like the standing game, movement is key, but it is not so easy.

Getting involved in the sitting game does not mean you have to have a disability. Teams can be made up of all able bodied, to all disabled or a combination of both. The rules are the same, just keep your bum on the floor!
